Participants in the educational marathon discussed the results and prospects for implementing measures to disseminate the best practices of Russian education within the framework of international cooperation in the Russian Federation and abroad. More than 1500 thousand listeners from different regions of Russia joined the live broadcast of the event from the studio of the Russian Society “Knowledge”, at All-Russian Exhibition Center, VDNH, Moscow.

The key event of the final day of the cycle of events of the Ural Pedagogical University at the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia” was the International Educational Marathon “Promotion of Russian Education Abroad”

UrSPU Rector Svetlana Minyurova addressed the marathon saying that the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation is implementing a project that is aimed at creating Open Education Centers in friendly countries, and every pedagogical university in our country is building interaction and creating centers for promoting the Russian language. “We have all the capabilities and resources to adequately represent Russian education abroad, our university, as a contribution to this direction, last year opened the Center for Open Education in Islamabad at the Allama Iqbal Open University,”she said.

A very valuable result of this activity for us is that more than 300 students of Russian language courses have already received certificates confirming their knowledge of the Russian language. It is very important and significant for us that this opens up opportunities for Pakistani citizens to come to Russia, get to know our country, get an education and join our joint projects, she said. UrSPU Rector Svetlana Minyurova, it is also very important that our citizens discover the rich history and culture of Pakistan. “I am confident that these areas of activity will find great support both at the level of administrative structures and among our youth and teachers,” she said.

As the guest of honor of the educational marathon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, Muhammad Khalid Jamali sadi that one of the main goals of my visit to Moscow is to strengthen ties between Russia and Pakistan and, of course, ties with the Ural State Pedagogical University. In connection with the cooperation between Russia and Pakistan in 2022, “we have already published several books by Russian authors, which have been warmly received by our readers,” he said. In turn, “I was very surprised to learn that Urdu is tought in many universities in Russia. I know that Russia has a very high quality of education, and I hope that in the future we will be able to exchange our best educational practices even more actively,” said Muhammad Khalid Jamali.

Former Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Pakistan from 2019 to 2023. Danila Ganich said that “the team of the Ural State Pedagogical University took the very first step in the development of educational ties between Russia and Pakistan, and the first graduates of the Center for Open Education were instilled in the Urals with a love not only for the Russian language, but also for the history and great culture of Russia. There is no doubt that the project has already triggered interest in Russia on the part of Pakistanis, and that the Russian educational presence in Pakistan will gain momentum – both in terms of the number of students and the number of disciplines”.

Mikhail Kozlov, Vice President of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also greeted the participants of the educational marathon. UTTP is the oldest and largest business association in Russia. In 2023, the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry assisted the USPU in organizing a trip for a university delegation to Pakistan. The guest of honor of the educational marathon was the Vice-Rector for External Relations of the State University of Education Khozh-Akhmed Khaladov. The session was moderated by the director of the Center for Open Education of the USPU Alena Postnikova.

Senior researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Irina Serenko presented a speech on the topic “Domestic Oriental Studies in promoting scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and Pakistan.” Project Manager of the Public Diplomacy Support Fund named after A.M. Gorchakova, researcher Institute of Asian and African Countries, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosova, Daria Saprynskaya shared her experience in implementing joint humanitarian projects within the framework of Russian-Pakistani cooperation.
